With the code name Denali, Microsoft launched SQL Server 2012. The Business Intelligence Development Studio BIDS was replaced by SQL Server Data Tools SSDT. SQL Server 2008

SQL Server 2008 was named Katmai and was launched in 2008. In this version Adventure works was not seen in the database installer. Data Collector helps to collect monitoring information in a Data Warehouse. In SQL 2008 compressed indexes and tables were added.

SQL Server 2005

In 2005 Microsoft launched another SQL Server 2005, code name Yukon. In this version, the SSMS was introduced that we use now. Business Intelligence Development Studio BIDS was created in this version. SQL Server 2005 includes Adventure works database in the installer. This version of SQL Server introduced the Service Broker to handle message queue.

SQL Server 2000

SQL Server 2000 came with the code name Shiloh in 2000 and it was an important version. It introduced XML support, user-defined functions, index views, replication enhancements, and log shipping.
